President’s Message

What an honor it is to serve as President of the Mississippi Court Reporters
Association. I am really excited about the upcoming year and look forward to working
with the Board that has been elected. I am glad to see the new board members come
aboard. It is always refreshing to see shiny new faces.

A big thank you goes out to Mary Dilley and the Spring CE Committee, as well as
Linda and Kathy from the Judicial College, for their spectacular efforts on the Spring
Convention. There was much learning and fun had by all. I always like to think of our
conventions as a “Family Reunion.” It is always so great to be able to see our friends
from the other side of the state and other states, as well as from our own backyard. I
want to encourage you at our next meeting to get to know some of your family that you
don’t know. Don’t just sit on the back row with the same crew you come with year after
year. Go that extra step to get to know someone different. We all need to work together!
Become more involved! You may have always wanted to contribute in some way
but did not know where to begin. Volunteer to be on a committee. Nominate yourself or
a friend to be on the Board. It is a rewarding experience you should consider. Our
Association can only be as great as the effort put forth by its members. The Board wants
YOU!

Lastly, but certainly not least, a huge thank you to Huey Bang for all of his help
and contributions during my transition as President. I have comfort in knowing I always
have someone to call on when the need arises.
Thank you again for choosing and allowing me to serve as your President. I look
forward to seeing you all in October!
